Dr. Chen received his B.S. in Biology from the Peking University in China and his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics in the University of Florida. Following a postdoctoral position at the George Washington University, he worked in instrument and biotech industries for 6 years before accepting a permanent position at the Food Composition and Methods Development Laboratory with USDA, ARS in 2004 as a Research Chemist.
Dr. Chen has 18 years of research experience in the field of LC/MS. He has authored 39 peer-reviewed articles and 1 book chapter. He was invited to be a guest editor for Journal of AOAC International for a special section titled “Application of Analytical Chemistry to Botanicals and Dietary Supplements”. He has also been invited to serve as experts for two Expert Review Panels by AOAC International and as members of the Expert Committee for the General Chapter of Analytical Chemistry and the Modernization of Identification Tests Expert Panel of the United States Pharmacopeia (USP).
